Los Angeles Angels place Mike Trout on injured list with hamstring injury
Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout has been placed on the injured list after suffering a right hamstring injury during Wednesday’s victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The 34-year-old sustained the issue while running to first base in a game where he hit a home run and registered three RBIs.
Ongoing fitness frustrations
This latest setback adds to a challenging physical track record for the three-time American League MVP.
The veteran has struggled to maintain his availability in recent campaigns, having failed to play more than 130 games in a single season since 2019.
Addressing reporters on Thursday, the 11-time All-Star confirmed there is currently no specific timeline for his return to action.
However, the experienced American remains optimistic that his spell on the sidelines will be brief.
Line-up adjustments
Prior to this injury, the franchise cornerstone was batting .234 with 17 home runs and 36 RBIs for the current campaign.
In his absence, Jose Siri is expected to deputise in center field for the Angels.
