New York Yankees to evaluate Aaron Judge rib injury at All-Star break

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge will undergo further medical imaging on his fractured right rib during the Major League Baseball All-Star break as the franchise hopes for positive signs of healing.

The three-time American League Most Valuable Player has been sidelined since 31 May and was officially placed on the injured list on 5 June.

Initial scans, including a CT and MRI, revealed a stress fracture that has significantly restricted his upper-body conditioning.

Cautious approach for returning captain

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed the club will not rush their talisman back into action prematurely.

“I don’t think we want to put him at risk of coming back while still injured,” Cashman told reporters.

The general manager stressed that the star outfielder must be completely free of pain before resuming baseball activities.

“If he’s asymptomatic and not feeling anything and medical images are showing healing, then it’s probably appropriate to get him going again.”

“But we don’t want to, because the schedule is what it is, put him in a position where we’re putting him in jeopardy where it somehow gets worse.”

Yankees struggling in absence of star slugger

The New York outfit have posted a concerning 14-19 record during the period without their primary offensive weapon.

This slump in form has hampered their divisional campaign, leaving them chasing the American League East-leading Tampa Bay Rays.

The upcoming test results will dictate the next phase of the rehabilitation process, although a definitive timeline for a return to the diamond remains uncertain.
