Max Verstappen signs Red Bull contract extension until the 2030 season

Max Verstappen has signed a new long-term contract extension with Red Bull, committing his future to the team until at least 2030 to end recent speculation.

The previous agreement for the reigning world champion was originally set to expire at the conclusion of the 2028 campaign.

Uncertainty surrounding his long-term plans had grown recently, as it is understood his management team held preliminary talks with McLaren earlier this year regarding a potential switch for 2027.

However, this new deal ensures the Dutch driver will remain the central pillar of the Milton Keynes-based outfit well into the sport’s upcoming regulatory era.

Focus turns to home race at Zandvoort

The major announcement comes at an ideal time as the Formula 1 season resumes following the traditional August summer break.

Verstappen will now head into this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix entirely free from contractual distractions while racing in front of his passionate home support.

The upcoming event at Zandvoort will also feature the Sprint format, offering the home favourite two immediate opportunities to secure crucial championship points.
