Arsenal lead Liverpool in the race to sign PSG winger Bradley Barcola
Paris St-Germain winger Bradley Barcola reportedly prefers a move to Arsenal over Premier League rivals Liverpool as speculation over his future intensifies.
The France international is heavily linked with a summer departure from the French capital, although a £145m valuation remains a significant stumbling block.
Liverpool have reportedly held initial talks with the reigning Ligue 1 champions regarding a potential transfer.
However, former Arsenal forward Perry Groves claims the highly-rated attacker has a strong preference for relocating to London.
Arsenal offer greater stability
Speaking to talkSPORT, Groves suggested Mikel Arteta’s side represent a more attractive proposition than the Merseyside club.
“I’ve got a source. I’ve got a mole. Barcola wants to live in London,” Groves stated.
The former Highbury winger believes the Gunners’ recent domestic challenges make them immediate contenders for major honours, contrasting with a transitional period at Anfield.
The former Lyon forward recently returned to pre-season training under Luis Enrique but remains open to exploring new opportunities.
Arteta eyes further additions
Arsenal have already been active in the transfer market, spending over £100m to close the gap on Manchester City.
Addressing the media over the weekend, Arteta confirmed the north London club are still looking to strengthen their squad.
“It has to be the right player in the market to make us much better,” the Arsenal manager explained.
Securing a dynamic wide player appears to be a priority for the Emirates hierarchy before the transfer window closes.
