Bayern Munich have declared that winger Michael Olise is unsellable at any price, citing a strict club policy established after a historic Chelsea transfer bid.

The 24-year-old has been a revelation since joining the Bavarian giants from Crystal Palace for approximately £50m in 2024.

He has quickly formed one of European football’s most formidable attacking tridents alongside Harry Kane and Luis Diaz.

The French attacker currently boasts 21 goals this season, having recently scored a spectacular effort against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Ribery precedent

Bayern’s firm stance on their star winger is deeply rooted in a transfer saga from over a decade ago involving Franck Ribery.

In 2009, Chelsea submitted what would have been a world-record offer to prise the French legend away from the Allianz Arena during his prime.

Former chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed that the monumental bid forced the club hierarchy into an intense two-hour debate.

“On that day, we made a fundamental decision: that in the future, we would no longer sell any player whom we would miss from a sporting perspective.”

Rummenigge confirmed that this unwritten rule remains absolute today and directly applies to their current prolific forward.

“For a player like Olise, there is no price tag that would make us flinch.”

Praise for a reserved star

This marks the second consecutive campaign in which the former Reading prospect has surpassed the 20-goal milestone.

Beyond his outstanding performances on the pitch, the Bayern hierarchy have been equally impressed by his humble character off it.

“I also like the fact that he is so reserved and almost media-shy. That is the exception in today’s world.”

Current manager Vincent Kompany is highly confident that the talented forward will continue to develop into a global superstar.

“He’s on the right track now. Everything he does is right. His level now is one of the best in Europe.”
