Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez seeks summer transfer, agent confirms
Chelsea vice-captain Enzo Fernandez remains determined to secure a summer transfer away from Stamford Bridge, his agent has confirmed.
The Argentine international is currently representing his country at the World Cup and is strongly linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future originally escalated in April following the London club’s exit from the Champions League.
Strained relations at Stamford Bridge
Fernandez was previously dropped for two matches by his current employers after publicly opening the door to a potential departure.
Javier Pastore, who represents the World Cup winner, furiously condemned that internal suspension as completely unfair during an explosive media interview.
While tensions in West London had seemingly cooled, the agent has now reiterated that an exit strategy is actively being pursued behind the scenes.
World Cup focus and Madrid dreams
“At the moment, the player is calmly focusing on the national team,” Pastore told reporters.
“He’s thinking only about that, whilst we’re looking at options for him to leave Chelsea, but there’s nothing definite or confirmed with any club.”
A lucrative move to the Santiago Bernabeu appears to be the primary objective for the highly-rated playmaker.
The unsettled star frequently visits the Spanish capital to meet with his representatives and spend time with international team-mate Julian Alvarez.
“He has lots of friends at Real Madrid, and he’s very close to Julian Alvarez,” added Pastore.
“Every time he’s travelled there, it’s been to see me and to sort out work matters, but apart from that: who doesn’t like Madrid?”
