United States forward Christian Pulisic trained away from the main group on Monday as he recovers from a calf injury ahead of Friday’s friendly against Australia.

The AC Milan attacker completed individual work on an adjacent pitch before continuing his fitness regime on a stationary bike indoors.

He initially sustained the knock during training last week and aggravated the issue during the first half of a 4-1 victory over Paraguay.

Optimism remains despite early substitution

United States manager Mauricio Pochettino offered a brief but positive update when questioned about his star player’s condition.

“Good,” the head coach replied, opting not to elaborate further on the situation.

The 26-year-old was substituted at half-time against the South Americans as a precaution after an electric opening 45 minutes.

He played a crucial role in creating the first two goals for his country, maintaining his impressive early-season form.

Adams expects Seattle return

Following the Paraguay match, the American talisman was quick to play down fears of a lengthy absence.

“I just got a bit of a kick first half, so I’m really hoping that it’s nothing,” he told Fox Sports.

“Taking a little bit of precaution today but I’m hoping I’ll be fine the next few days.”

International team-mate Tyler Adams also sought to reassure supporters before the squad travels to Seattle.

“Christian will be ready everyone. Let’s relax,” the Bournemouth midfielder stated.

Adams explained that the winger had suffered an initial impact to the calf in training and received a second strike in the exact same area during match action.

The resulting tightness during the interval prompted medical staff to intervene, but the camp is confident he will be available to face the Socceroos.
