Como sign defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in lucrative £30m deal
Italian side Como have completed the signing of defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in a transfer package worth more than £30m.
The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the ambitious Serie A club.
His arrival provides a significant defensive boost for Cesc Fabregas’ squad ahead of their upcoming Champions League campaign.
The Italian outfit secured their place in Europe’s elite competition by achieving an impressive fourth-placed league finish last season.
End of an era at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea will receive an initial payment of £25.7m for their academy graduate.
An additional £5.1m is available in performance-related add-ons following extensive negotiations between the two clubs.
The centre-back departs his boyhood team after an association lasting nearly two decades.
He originally joined the London outfit as a child and went on to make 151 appearances across all competitions.
Reunited in Italy
This permanent move allows the England international to link up with his former team-mate Fabregas.
Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club.
Cesc Fabregas
He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como.
Cesc Fabregas
