Crystal Palace approach Frank Lampard following Coventry title win
Crystal Palace have approached Frank Lampard about becoming their new manager just days after the 47-year-old led Coventry City to the Championship title.
The south London club are actively searching for a replacement for outgoing head coach Oliver Glasner.
Lampard successfully ended a 25-year top-flight absence for the Sky Blues this season.
However, the former Chelsea and Everton boss is now seriously considering his managerial options following the Selhurst Park approach.
Uncertainty at Coventry
Despite securing automatic promotion, doubts persist over Coventry’s ability to retain their title-winning manager.
Owner Doug King has openly acknowledged the club may struggle to compete financially against established elite teams.
The former England midfielder has exactly 12 months remaining on his current contract in the Midlands.
While an improved deal will be offered, King is reportedly unwilling to block a move if a Premier League rival swoops.
Rival interest and Palace rebuild
Fulham are also monitoring the situation as they await a decision on Marco Silva’s contract extension.
A switch to the capital would offer the opportunity to inherit a highly successful squad from the departing Austrian tactician.
Palace lifted the FA Cup last season and face Rayo Vallecano in the Europa Conference League final later this month.
The Eagles spent £78m in January to secure Brennan Johnson and Jorgen Strand Larsen, reinvesting funds after losing star duo Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi.
