Crystal Palace line up Ruben Amorim as Oliver Glasner replacement
Crystal Palace are considering a move for former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim to replace the departing Oliver Glasner at the end of the season.
Oliver Glasner will leave Selhurst Park this summer after a successful tenure that included lifting the 2025 FA Cup.
The Eagles are actively searching for a successor and have placed the Portuguese tactician firmly on their radar.
The 41-year-old has been out of work since departing Old Trafford in January 2026 following a difficult spell.
A challenging stint in Manchester
Under his guidance, the Red Devils slumped to 15th in the Premier League and suffered a defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.
Michael Carrick took interim charge following his dismissal, guiding the squad to vastly improved performances and a likely third-place finish.
Having received a reported £10m severance package, the two-time Primeira Liga winner has not rushed back into management.
Reports earlier in April suggested he was not prioritising an immediate return to the dugout despite links to Benfica and Juventus.
Alternative candidates for Selhurst Park
The south London club are also evaluating Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, who is out of contract this summer.
Former Brentford manager Thomas Frank and ex-Tottenham striker Robbie Keane remain under consideration for the high-profile vacancy.
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has emerged as a strong candidate after securing Premier League promotion, though his availability remains uncertain.
Questions over youth development
A major criticism during the former Sporting CP coach’s time in England was his perceived reluctance to utilise academy graduates.
He notably sidelined highly-rated midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who has since flourished upon returning to the starting lineup.
Defending his selection choices regarding young prospects earlier this year, he remained defiant.
“[Harry] Amass is now struggling in Championship. Chido [Obi] is not always a starter in under 21.”
Crystal Palace supporters will be keen to see if his approach to developing homegrown talent adapts should he take the reins.
