Liverpool close to agreeing new contract with Dominik Szoboszlai

Liverpool are close to agreeing a new contract with midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, securing the long-term future of the Hungarian international under new head coach Andoni Iraola.

The 25-year-old has entered the final two years of his current deal, leaving the Merseyside club vulnerable to losing him on a free transfer or for a reduced fee.

However, negotiations have progressed positively over recent months, providing a significant boost as Iraola begins his tenure at Anfield.

Szoboszlai established himself as an instrumental figure last season after arriving from RB Leipzig for £60m in 2023.

The versatile playmaker recorded an impressive 13 goals and 12 assists across the campaign, even providing emergency cover at right-back.

Securing the midfielder’s signature will ease concerns following a turbulent period of player departures at the club.
