Liverpool are prepared to keep manager Arne Slot in charge for the remainder of the campaign before conducting a full review of his position in the summer.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has reported the Reds are unlikely to dismiss the Dutchman before the season concludes.

The club’s hierarchy intends to wait until the summer window to assess the former Feyenoord boss’s long-term future.

Champions League progress crucial

While Liverpool’s form has stabilised recently with five wins in seven matches, the board will factor the club’s final league position into their decision.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that the Anfield decision-makers continue to back their head coach despite a turbulent second season.

“I keep repeating to you the same. So far remains the support of Liverpool for Arne Slot,” said Romano.

“They’ve always been supporting the manager in recent months, even in complicated moments. So that remains the situation.”

Romano added that the remainder of the campaign, particularly in Europe, will be pivotal.

“From now to the end of the season, maximum support coming from Liverpool to Arne Slot,” he continued.

“Then in the summer, there will be, before the summer transfer window, an internal review of everything.

“Of course, the Champions League campaign and how Liverpool will finish the season could be important to understand the future of Arne Slot.”

A contrasting second campaign

Slot faces pressure to deliver after a heavy £415m spending spree in the last summer transfer window.

The 46-year-old enjoyed immediate success after replacing Jurgen Klopp in 2024, securing the club’s second Premier League title in his debut season.

However, the title defence has faltered, with the Merseysiders currently sitting sixth in the table with 12 matches remaining.

They face Nottingham Forest on Sunday having suffered recent defeats only to Manchester City and Bournemouth.

Mac Allister contract uncertainty

Speculation also surrounds the future of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister following links to rivals Manchester United.

The Argentina international is currently in negotiations regarding fresh terms at Anfield.

Carlos Mac Allister, the player’s father, stated they are waiting for a formal proposal from the club.

“We are waiting for an offer to renew his contract. We will see what the club’s plan is,” he said.

“We’ll wait and see what happens with the renewal. That’s all.”
