Marcus Rashford thrives at Barcelona with £26m transfer option available
Marcus Rashford is enjoying a productive loan spell at Barcelona, contributing 23 goal involvements as the Spanish giants consider triggering a £26.2m option to sign him permanently from Manchester United.
The England international has rediscovered his touch in Catalonia, recording 10 goals and 13 assists so far this campaign.
This upturn in form has kept alive his hopes of inclusion in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Settling into life in Spain
Rashford admitted to Spanish outlet Sport that happiness is crucial to his performance, and he appears settled in the coastal town of Castelldefels.
“To play my best football, I need to be happy.”
Away from the pitch, the 26-year-old has embraced the local culture, enjoying seafood at La Cupula Garraf and taking Spanish lessons to aid communication.
He has also continued his passion for fishing with trips to the Llobregat Delta, while taking up padel alongside former teammates like Gerard Pique.
Building new connections
The Manchester United academy graduate has formed a close bond with fellow summer arrival Roony Bardghji.
United supporters will remember the Swedish teenager scoring the winner for FC Copenhagen against Erik ten Hag’s side in the Champions League in 2023.
Rashford has also been supported by former Premier League players Wojciech Szczesny, Eric Garcia and Raphinha during his transition.
Potential permanent move
While the forward still keeps an eye on events at Old Trafford, his future may lie away from Manchester.
Barcelona hold a purchase option reportedly worth £26.2m to seal a permanent deal at the end of the season.
