Martin Odegaard dismisses Galatasaray transfer links to remain at Arsenal

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard will not be joining Galatasaray this summer after reports of a move to Turkey were completely dismissed by the player’s camp.

Recent speculation in Turkey suggested that the midfielder’s representative had been spotted in Istanbul to negotiate a potential transfer.

However, sources close to the 27-year-old have categorically denied these claims as being entirely without foundation.

His agent, Bjorn Kvarme, has instead been accompanying the playmaker in the United States during his current international duties.

Focus remains on North London

The Norwegian international is understood to be thoroughly content at the Emirates Stadium following a hugely successful domestic campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s side recently lifted the Premier League trophy, with their skipper playing a pivotal role in the club’s title-winning success.

Despite facing significant injury setbacks last season, including separate shoulder and knee issues, the former Real Madrid man remained highly influential.

The arrival of Eberechi Eze provided fresh competition in midfield, but the current club captain retains the unanimous backing of his manager and teammates.

World Cup ambitions continue

Arteta has repeatedly dismissed any notion of changing the team’s leadership structure ahead of the new campaign.

For now, the creative midfielder is firmly focused on guiding his country through a historic summer tournament.

He recently became only the third player since 1966 to register an assist in each of his first three World Cup appearances.

Norway are preparing to face tournament heavyweights Brazil on Sunday evening, meaning any domestic return will be slightly delayed.

Following his eventual summer break, he is expected to rejoin the English champions ahead of their opening pre-season fixture against Girona on 1 August.
