Max Dowman wins Arsenal’s Goal of the Season award for Everton strike
Arsenal teenager Max Dowman has won the club’s Emirates Goal of the Season award for his sensational stoppage-time solo strike against Everton.
The highly-rated prospect secured 38% of the supporter vote to claim the accolade.
His remarkable effort began deep in his own half following a cleared Everton corner.
The youngster proceeded to bypass Vitaliy Mykolenko and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall before slotting into an empty net to seal a crucial victory.
Crucial strike beats Zubimendi and Williamson
That late goal moved the Gunners nine points clear of title rivals Manchester City at the time.
Martin Zubimendi finished second in the voting with 17% for his September volley against Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal Women defender Leah Williamson claimed third place, earning 11% of the ballot for her header against Leicester City.
PFA award nominations loom
This latest prize adds to a growing list of achievements for the English prodigy.
He is also nominated for the prestigious PFA Young Player of the Year award, which will be presented at an August ceremony.
Manchester City prospect Nico O’Reilly is currently considered the betting favourite for that honour.
A competitive youth shortlist also features Kobbie Mainoo, Rayan Cherki, Junior Kroupi and Rio Ngumoha.
Meanwhile, senior Arsenal trio Declan Rice, Gabriel and David Raya face competition from Erling Haaland, Bruno Fernandes and Cherki for the main player prize.
