Orlando City in talks to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid
Orlando City have opened talks with Atlético Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann regarding a potential high-profile move to Major League Soccer.
The France international is currently under contract in the Spanish capital until 2027.
However, representatives for the player are reportedly holding ongoing discussions with the Florida-based club.
Despite the dialogue, no formal agreement has yet been reached between the parties.
‘My objective is to end my career there’
The 2018 World Cup winner has repeatedly expressed a strong desire to finish his playing days in North America.
Speaking in 2023, he labeled a switch to the United States as a primary target for his future.
“I’ve always said it, my target is to end up [in MLS],” Griezmann said. “It’s my objective, to be there and end my career there, to be able to enjoy the sports there. I’m a big fan.”
Reports in March had previously linked the versatile attacker with a move to Los Angeles FC before he recommitted to Diego Simeone’s side.
The precise timing of any potential transfer remains unclear.
A decorated career in Spain
The former Barcelona player is currently in his second spell with the Colchoneros.
Since returning to the Metropolitano Stadium in 2021, initially on loan, he has recorded 69 goals in 187 appearances across all competitions.
His extensive silverware collection includes the 2014 Spanish Super Cup and the 2018 Europa League title.
On the international stage, his pivotal role for Les Bleus saw him finish third in the Ballon d’Or rankings in both 2016 and 2018.
