Paris Saint-Germain fear Achraf Hakimi injury blow after Bayern Munich win
Paris Saint-Germain are awaiting medical assessments on Achraf Hakimi after the defender suffered a hamstring injury during their dramatic Champions League semi-final first-leg victory over Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old was forced off in the closing stages of the match after pulling up while attempting to close down Konrad Laimer.
Having already exhausted their permitted substitution windows, the French champions were forced to see out the remainder of the game with 10 men.
The Morocco international was able to walk off the pitch unaided, but his availability for next week’s crucial return leg at the Allianz Arena is now in serious doubt.
Enrique unsure on defender’s status
Manager Luis Enrique admitted he is entirely in the dark regarding the severity of the issue ahead of further medical checks.
“I don’t know anything about Achraf Hakimi, we will see what state he is in tomorrow.”
“I can’t say anything about that.”
The right-back had only just recovered to keep his starting position, having been withdrawn at half-time during a recent Ligue 1 trip to Angers.
Parisians hold slender advantage
The defensive setback slightly soured a spectacular European night in the French capital, where the hosts ultimately secured a breathless one-goal advantage after netting five times.
Prior to his withdrawal, the marauding full-back had provided a crucial assist for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to put the hosts 4-2 ahead shortly after the interval.
Ousmane Dembele struck twice and Joao Neves also found the net from a corner, though the Bavarian giants responded fiercely with four goals of their own to ensure the tie remains finely balanced.
To compound the defensive concerns for the hosts, Portuguese left-back Nuno Mendes also appeared to struggle late on before being replaced by Lucas Hernandez.
