PSG parade consecutive Champions League trophies at Roland Garros
Paris St-Germain players celebrated their back-to-back Champions League triumphs by presenting both trophies to the crowd at the French Open on Monday.
Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola carried the latest piece of silverware onto Court Philippe-Chatrier.
The French duo placed it alongside the club’s maiden 2024 title, just two days after defending their European crown.
Penalty drama against Arsenal
The Parisian outfit secured Europe’s premier club competition for a second successive season following a tense final at the Puskas Arena.
They defeated Arsenal 4-3 in a penalty shootout after the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
A second-half spot-kick from Dembele cancelled out an early penalty converted by Kai Havertz.
Sharing the success
Desire Doue and Warren Zaire-Emery, who starred in last year’s 5-0 final victory over Inter Milan, brought out the first trophy to the Parisian tennis crowd.
“We’re bringing you the second star, we’re proud and happy.”
Doue added that the squad wanted to thank everyone associated with the club for what he described as a collective victory.
Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi also attended the tennis tournament, which is situated just a short distance from the Parc des Princes.
World Cup preparations begin
Attention now turns to international duty for the victorious French quartet.
“We’ve lived outstanding moments with this squad and we want to win a third one, but first we have the World Cup with France.”
Dembele, Barcola, Doue and Zaire-Emery will join the national team training camp on Tuesday to prepare for the upcoming tournament in the United States.
Les Bleus face warm-up fixtures against Ivory Coast and Northern Ireland before navigating a World Cup group containing Senegal, Iraq and Norway.
