Udinese demand Serie A action after Keinan Davis alleges racist abuse
Udinese have urged Italian football authorities to take immediate action after English striker Keinan Davis alleged he suffered racist abuse during Saturday’s 2-0 Serie A victory at Cagliari.
The alleged incident occurred in the closing stages of the match following a physical confrontation involving several opposition players.
The 28-year-old subsequently took to social media to accuse Cagliari defender Alberto Dossena of making discriminatory remarks.
Club demands swift investigation
In response to the allegations, Udinese released a strong statement offering their full support to the former Aston Villa forward.
The northeastern Italian outfit condemned the reported verbal attack as disgraceful and despicable.
“Udinese Calcio hopes that the sports justice bodies, in whom we have the utmost confidence, will deal with the matter swiftly.”
Cagliari deny allegations
The Sardinian side responded by stating they condemn all forms of discrimination, but strongly refuted the claims made by the Englishman.
Cagliari expressed that they were surprised and deeply disappointed by the accusations, firmly denying that any racist language was used during the altercation.
Davis’ impact in Italy
The powerful frontman has enjoyed a productive campaign since establishing himself in Italy’s top flight.
Having moved to Udine permanently in 2023 following loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Watford, the striker has netted 10 goals in 26 league appearances this season.
Serie A officials will now likely review the referee’s report and match footage to determine if an official disciplinary probe is warranted.
