Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of Aston Villa winger Morgan Rogers as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

The North London club are prioritising the acquisition of a left-sided attacker and a central midfielder during the summer transfer window.

Rogers has emerged as a primary target for the Gunners, though they face stiff competition from domestic rivals Chelsea and Manchester United.

Aston Villa are expected to demand a fee in the region of £80m for the highly-rated forward.

Villa hold strong negotiating position

The Midlands club possess significant leverage following the player’s decision to sign a long-term contract extension until 2031 late last year.

Despite Unai Emery’s team securing Champions League football, that achievement is unlikely to dictate the attacker’s long-term future at Villa Park.

Formal contact between the two Premier League clubs has yet to be established.

Alternative attacking targets identified

Should a move for their primary target fail to materialise, Arsenal are simultaneously exploring a deal for Club Brugge forward Christos Tzolis.

Securing the 24-year-old wide man would require a Belgian Pro League record fee of approximately £34m.

However, the Belgian champions are reluctant to part ways with the prolific attacker, who remains under contract until 2029.

Midfield reinforcement plans

Alongside their search for attacking depth, the Arsenal hierarchy are actively monitoring teenage midfield prospect Ayyoub Bouaddi.

The 18-year-old Lille anchor recently elevated his global profile with a standout performance for Morocco against Brazil at the World Cup.

Securing the talented youngster will prove complicated, as he recently committed his future to the French outfit with a new deal running until 2029.

Imminent Emirates departures

To fund their ambitious recruitment drive, several existing squad members are expected to depart the Emirates Stadium over the coming weeks.

Up to six current players face increasingly uncertain futures under Arteta’s regime.

Reports suggest the club are prepared to listen to offers for a trio of established names, with one key player potentially heading for the exit door.
