Liverpool are preparing an £86m bid to sign 19-year-old RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande following his standout performances for Ivory Coast at the World Cup.

The Premier League club have accelerated negotiations with the Bundesliga side after weeks of dialogue regarding the highly-rated teenager.

This major transfer push follows the attacker’s scintillating display during his country’s 2-1 defeat by Germany, where he provided the cross for Franck Kessie’s opening goal.

Pundits praise fearless forward

Operating primarily on the left flank, the lightning-fast winger caused severe problems for veteran German right-back Joshua Kimmich.

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville was effusive in his praise while analysing the match.

“On the counter-attack, they’ve got massive strength down that left-hand side with Diomande,” Neville stated.
“He’s one of the most experienced right-backs in the world, and he’s toiling in this first half.”

Neville noted that the young prospect’s fearlessness made it an incredibly uncomfortable evening for the German defence.

Living up to the hype

Fellow pundit Ian Wright agreed that the opposition looked genuinely intimidated by the Leipzig prodigy.

“He’s definitely lived up to the hype,” said Wright.
“His pressing is brilliant, his taking on is brilliant; he’s just absolutely tearing them to pieces.”

Former Everton striker Duncan Ferguson also highlighted the phenomenal pace and delivery possessed by the young African star.

If successful, this massive financial outlay would represent a significant statement of intent by the Anfield hierarchy.

The Reds have already secured the signature of Victor Munoz and appear determined to further bolster their attacking options.
