The Tennessee Titans have secured the long-term future of defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons by agreeing a three-year contract extension worth $105.8m.

The lucrative new deal includes an astonishing $100m in guaranteed money for the formidable interior lineman.

It rewards a stellar campaign in which the dominant defender established himself as one of the premier forces in the National Football League.

Record-breaking season earns massive payday

The former 19th overall draft pick registered a career-high 11 sacks last season to break the franchise record for a defensive tackle.

He dominated across multiple statistical categories, leading all NFL interior linemen in solo tackles, tackles for loss and quarterback pressures.

That exceptional production earned the 26-year-old a fourth Pro Bowl selection and first-team All-Pro honours.

Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi praised his star player’s profound impact both on and off the field.

“Jeffery Simmons is a pillar for our franchise and embodies what it means to be a Titan,” Borgonzi said.

“He’s the premier defensive tackle in the National Football League and you win with players like Jeffery.”

‘My job isn’t finished’

The highly-rated pass rusher has amassed 383 tackles and 42.5 sacks since arriving in Nashville back in 2019.

He is also a recognised leader within the locker room, having been voted a team captain on five separate occasions.

“Tennessee has become a second home for me,” Simmons said following the announcement.

“From day one, this organization believed in me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to pour into this franchise and community.”

“My job isn’t finished. I believe in this locker room and this staff, and I’m focused on helping this team get back to competing for championships.”
